vob files larger than 1 gb

Hello,
I have just recently started learning about editing video. I bought a copy of VRD a few weeks ago and have found it works pretty good for most of the video I wanted to edit. But I recently ran into a problem when I tried to open a video file that is larger than 1gb, I believe it was like 1.10 gb. Anyway, VRD would not respond and freeze up. I ripped the dvd using dvd wizard pro, which created video_ts file, which contain vob files 1 thru 4, and two of these vob files are larger than 1 gb. I am having a problem opening either of vob files larger than 1 gb. If anyone on this forum can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Did you try processing the file through QuickStream Fix first? Tools>QuickStream Fix

Which version of VideoReDo are you using?

Is there anything non-standard about the VOB?

I regularly conjoin VOBs for one contiguous file and edit in VRD without any issues. The VOBs are several GB.

Thanks for your response phd.
I will try quickstream fix. I have VideoReDo Plus, I believe it is the latest version. I am not sure whether the vob has any non-stantard elements.
What exactly do you mean? You'll have to forgive me if I don't understand some terms as I am pretty new to this.

Hello again phd,

I tried quickstream fix. It worked as far as being able to open the vob file, but there seems to be a problem with source file,it's missing video frames or not sychronizing correctly. Anyway thanks for the tip.

Is it a home recorded DVD?

I personally have not had problems extracting VOBs.

I have not personally used dvd wizard pro so I can't speak to how well it works. Perhaps it had a problem converting.

Here's a few more methods for extraction and joining. Give them a try as well.

I have personally used DVD Decrypter, SmartRipper and cladDVD with VideoReDo without issue.

I extract the VOBs as PGCs to obtain the complete show and then process through QuickStream Fix.

I routinely run files through VRD that are much greater than 1Gb in size. BTW I sometimes a freeware app called vob2mpeg when putting recorded DVDs onto my hard drive. It is simple fast and works great for recorded DVDs.
