When is version 5 going to be released? I'm waiting like for ages. You told me that the demo would be up in July, and it's July 31 and still nothing! I got to edit my .wtv files, please!

Wow, you got told July, well right now it is still july, so they have not broken that "promise" yet.

All i can say as a beta tester, i am using it full time now, no need for version 4 any more, and i hope you will be a bit more patient because this new Baby is great, however i cannot comment on your particular need because i dont do those types of files.

It should be very close, but Dan will have more info about it than i can give you.

Cheers

It's 01/08/2014 here in Greece, 12 am has passed and still no version 5 beta!
I think you are being a bit unfair and very impatient to be honest, just because you may have been told a certain month, that does not mean you can hold the Devs to that time, unfortunately things can and do happen along the way causing a delay, and remember, this is a brand new version upgrade, and what would happen if they released it to you yesterday and it still had bugs in it, you would be back in here complaining about them.

Anyway, just be patient, it should not be very long.

Not been posting much lately because, well, quite frankly VRD has been working perfectly for me. But I hadn't seen that VRD 5 was coming. I had a couple questions and I hope I'm not posting them in the wrong place. I can start my own thread if this is a problem.

Is there a timeline on release? I see an open beta is coming and that's pretty sweet. But is it slated for purchase this year or further out? The reason I'm asking is upgrades typically aren't free, and I've recommended VRD to my dad so he can edit his gopro videos. If he buys VRD 4 now will he have to purchase an upgrade to VRD 5?

And finally, is there any information on what's new and/or coming in VRD 5?

Thanks for your time, and again, if this is not the proper thread for these questions I apologize and can start my own.

Glad things are working well for you.

V5 has been in private beta with about 10+ users for the last month. We plan on going into public beta, probably this week, with a release perhaps as early as the end of August, certainly sometime in September. Yes, there will be an upgrade fee, but recent purchasers of and upgraders to V4 (certainly last 3 months, maybe longer we haven't finalized this yet) will receive a free upgrade.

The feature list will be part of the beta, so please sit tight for a few more days and you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of V5.

FYI, You'll be able to install and run both V4 and V5, at least during the beta, at the same time so if there are issues with the beta you can call back to V4.

Thanks, Dan. Really appreciate the info and looking forward to the upgrade. That'll be a day one purchase for me for sure as I like to support the companies that treat its customers well and you guys always have.

Don't forget to thank Pat (PHD) as well. He's the one who keeps the message board, and help desk, running smoothly :)

Me too. I've never been happier with a piece of software or the support. Looking forward to seeing the feature list for v5.

Next week for sure. Was planning on this week, but we had people on vacation so we decided to stall a week.

I'm new to these boards, this is the first I'm hearing of V5.

I was wondering if someone on VRD team could answer a quick question, will Elgato Game Capture or Elgato HD60 be fully supported in the release? I sometimes get H.264(.MP4) cut errors on some of the videos I record from the device. I was wondering if V5 release will correct the issue.

The device also creates a .TS file for timeshifting, If I use that file I get a underflow problem.

-Thanks

Can you be more specific about the cut error, does VRD error out or is there a problem with the cut itself? If the later, V5 should address that.

Go to Tools>Options>Transport and change the mux rate from 19.2 to "automatic" or if you know the mux rate and or video bit rate set it manually. When you open the source file and click on Tools>Show Program Info what is the displayed mux rate and estimated video bit rate?

I didn't catch what the error message was, it had something to do with H.264 improper cut or something on those lines. It was VRD that error out. I just upgraded to latest version, everything seem to be fine now. Only issue(not sure It would be called an issue). When VRD hits 2 seconds remaining it stalls for a good 30 seconds to 3 minutes, until it finally wraps up. (Time is based on how long the video length is).

^ Using H.264 with MP4 container.

If you guys want me to I can upload a sample video from new Elgato HD60 just incase you make double check to make sure everything is running smooth at both ends.

----

I'll check the option out next time I use a TS file, thanks for info.

That delay is the copying the MOOV atom in the MP4 file to the beginning. Having the MOOV at the start of the file is necessary to properly stream MP4 files, but otherwise you can disable this feature in either your output profile and/or the Options button on the file save dialog. Simply uncheck the "Move MOOV atom to the start of file" checkbox on the left side of the profile dialog.
