Video Redo cuts programs shorter than end point

I used to own a copy of Video Redo Plus few years ago to edit TV programs that I recorded with my pvr-ready set top box (I paid about $40 or thereabouts for the software.) Unfortunately, that was on a laptop which experienced data loss and Ive misplaced the key / number that was given to me for the software. So Video Redo was no longer in my possession.

I enjoyed using Video Redo and I found it really handy so I downloaded a trial version so that I could still get some use out of it. After the trial expired, the software remained on my computer but I was limited to 15 minute edits.

Yesterday morning, I was using Video Redo to edit some music video clips that I recorded from TV. Everything went well. No issues at all.

Later that day, I started up the software again to edit some more music video clips. However, this time around, Video Redo is cutting the clips short. Hard to say how much but could be around 15 – 30 seconds or so. Though I'm doing everything the same as before – no difference. I select the start point and the end point and then 'Add Selection' and 'Save As.' I do notice that small coloured screen (which shows details about the edited video like bitrate etc) is not appearing. That is meant to show up at the end of the export. No musical fanfare either. Later in the evening, I was able to do some successful exports (with the video details showing at the end and the musical fanfare.) But also partial exports as well.

And today, Ive only had partial exports so far.

There is slightly over 77 GB free space on the drive that I'm exporting to so it's not a storage issue. And the musical clips themselves are very short at about 3 - 4 minutes duration each. And they are SD resolution and I haven't been trying to export very many of them (less than 10.)

Here are some log files which I hope may give a clue as to why Video Redo is cutting the clips short:

Are you sure the entire video is there? With TS we basically estimate the length by reading the start time code and the end time code. If there is a gap in the middle, which is common for TS recorded from DSS or cable, then the output file will show the new length as the time codes are regenerated on output and the gap will no longer exist.

The entire video was there prior to export. Though after export, the finished video is shorter than the selection I had made with the in and out points. There is no gap in the middle. This problem occurred many times with the expired trial version of Videoredo. And I was only editing clips that were approximately 3 - 4 minutes in duration. However, when I reverted to the full version of Videoredo by using the key number that was issued to me, I no longer experienced these problems.

The expired trial version will start cutting shorter and shorter clips. It's an intentional security feature.
