v5.1.0.717 crashes

When opening a MKV file, v5.1.0.717 crashes.
If I run the same file through MKClean first, v5.1.0.717 will open the file.

What does MKClean do to the file? Does it remove any streams? Or report removing any bad frames?

Taken from the read me file.

"mkclean is a command line tool to clean and optimize Matroska files that have
already been muxed.

It currently reorders elements in an optimum way for local and web use.
It also removes elements not found in the Matroska specs and the extra Meta
Seek list of Clusters that some program add to their file."

Hmm, I don't have Mrclean. But I did just create (V5-717) a H264-MKV from a dvd type mpg.
When I dropped the same MKV back into V5-717 got a lock up.

After several minutes the message "Video program stream not found" appeared
and VRD would function again.
-------------------------------------------------------

EDIT... V5-716 will open the H264-MKV file that it creates.

V4 or V5 will not open the V5-717 created MKV. VLC plays it tho.

Same for MP4,TS and M2TS file. (H264s)

Not able to reproduce this. Opened MPEG-2 file, trimmed a 30 second clip, saved as H.264 MKV. Resulting file opens just fine in VRD.

Maybe a setting got corrupted? Perhaps try an uninstall/reinstall?

Yep, that did it! All ok now. At least I don't have a ton of setting to redo.

The file works in v4 but not in v5!

After Googling the problem, some mkv files have 'header removal compression', some do not.

MKClean fixes the problem so the files will play in my PVR instead of not playing at all.

In v4, If a MKV file had that problem and I needed to increase the audio, v4 would fix the issue. So I wouldn't have to use MKClean.

Well, Darn, the Uninstall/Reinstall fixed the "Video program stream not found" problem
for a day but it's back again. The MP4s play but not in VRD.

V5-716 is still doing fine. I'm going to have to stick with it till next update. I want to Deletterbox about
159 files and I'm not trusting 717.

EDIT....

I Uninstalled/Reinstalled. Downloaded another copy and did it again...No luck.

Also installed it in my VMware 8.1 windows and same problem. "Video program stream not found"

Thanks,

File has been uploaded
Your file is causing a crash inside ffmpeg. Not really much we can do about it. v4 used a much older build of ffmpeg so whatever this is must have been a change in the newer build. I ran a winmerge on the code from both builds and the changes are extensive. I don't really have a way to debug ffmpeg. I have to build it in a Linux VM and then copy the libs/dlls over to VRD. Upgrading to a newer build isn't really possible at this time as we have some custom changes that have to be ported and it takes time to apply those and then test to ensure new build didn't break anything else.

Sorry. We'll likely be upgrading to a newer build in a future release to fix these sorts of things, but it's low priority at the moment.

FYI the crash is sporadic. If I tried enough times sometimes your file would open. The crash always seemed to happen in the seek routine so I'm guessing the issue has something to do with the seek table in the file.

Edit: If I simply remux the file in mkvmerge then it works OK too. So this seems like a bad mux or perhaps a corrupt download.

Edit 2: I can still get it to crash with the remuxed file. Just seems to be less frequent. So something is up with this file.

Try increasing the MBytes to scan and see if that helps. If not create a small sample file and upload it for me so I can see if I can reproduce.

Did increase up to 120MB. No luck.

5 MB MP4 File uploaded and Email sent.

That file created with V5-717 will not open in VRD. Create it with 716 and it will open.

Thanks,
