Topfield rec files

Hi!
What a great job VideoReDo does! Super quality mpeg videos easily created.
However,I would like to be able to create Topfield rec files to be play on the Topfield TF58000PVR here in the U.K. Is there a way of doing this?

I would really be interested in this answer as well. I mainly would like to be able to edit out adds and then upload the file after I have done my thing as a start, eventually it would be nice to do the same with MPEG's. I'm not a big fan of Project X, this program is far more intuitive to use.

I would have thought (but I'm certainly no expert), that if you can import the file and read/edit it, then should be able to save it in the same format relatively easily.

I have noticed here and on a lot of other forums especially ones to do with Topfield .rec files, a LOT of users are using the VRD product, would be nice if it could support these files. I'm talking Toppy sites in UK, Germany and Australia to name a few.

Seems there is a fair amount of interest in Topfield PVR owners wanting to be able to create .rec files using VRD. The threads were very interesting.
Must agree that project X is not exactly user friendly like VDR.

Look forward to Dan`s update. Is it near completion? Sure you will get plenty sales from Topfield owners.

I..for one, will certainly start pointing people in the right direction ----- towards VRD. It is a great and user friendly program with top of line support.

Hi, my requirements are pretty much the same as Cage & taageer. I'm based in the UK and recently bought a Topfield 5800PVR, and after some research bought VideoRedo Plus, which I just updated, and donated to Project X. I was recommended PVAStrumeto on www.toppy.org.uk, and I've got Nero Vision Express 3.

I too would like to edit out ads and then send the files back to the Topfield, because the on-board edit function is very inaccurate. The VideoReDo part is fine and I'm very happy with the program, but being a newcomer to this technology I find the procedures that follow (there are several) far too complicated for what I thought should be a relatively simple operation.

I spoke to Turbosat, the UK distributors, today on another matter, and in the conversation I mentioned VideoReDo, and the guy I spoke to hinted that a version that will output *.rec files is planned. Could anyone confirm this because I would definitely be very interested.

Thanks.

Yes, a .rec output is planned. The GUI is mostly done. Will go into beta in another 2-3 weeks.

Another question: I use a Topfield 5800PVR to record vintage radio programmes off BBC 7 in the UK, and I'd would like a way to output these files to MP3 (or WMA) to play using my PDA. Is this possible or could it be added?
Thanks.

VideoReDo does not output in MP3 but does output in MP2 which is very similar. If you can open the program in VRD, then output it as MPEG audio, if its not already in that format. Select elementary stream output on the File>Save Dialog. If you need to convert the audio, press the "Options" button on that dialog.
