TMPGenc DVDauthor 2 rejects volume modded files..why ?

Hi,

has anyone experienced TMPGenc DVD author 2.0 rejecting files on the grounds of too high a bitrate at simulation stage ?

Up as far as the current Videoredo upgrade, I have had no problems, but since the upgrade, which gives a volume level adjustment feature (most useful), using it to increase the volume level on files captured from a betamax vcr I purchased; the saved files, having first been quickstream fixed, then edited perhaps, are being rejected as such. The warning says'the current bitrate 9864 exceeds the dvd standard of9848 and may not play on all devices.

Pat at Videoredo suppport suggested using a bitrate setting of 10 in the options box accessible in the save window when doing a 'save as'. Seemed to work on first problem files, but now I have one that gets rejected after this.

I had a project with 4 files, on their own TMPG accepted them, then feeling all was ok, I created a project with them all, and at simulation stage met the rejection message for one of them.

Whats the solution, are others experiencing this. I had no problems until I came to use the volume level adjust.

A few points:

1) Perhaps a lower audio bit rate would help when converting to MPEG audio.

2) Have you tried lowering the video bit rate setting to 8 Mbps?

Hi Dan,
Pat suggested choosing 10 in the options box when doing 'save as' after upping the volume. Would 8 give any picture quality loss ? Audio boxes display MPEG and 320, should I choose the next down in the list 256 ? For the apparent affected files, prog called BitRate Viewer indicates that the average and peak bitrates of source files are under 9200 kbps so should be ok TMPGenc say.

Try lowering both settings in VideoReDo, i.e. Video to 8 Mbps and audio to 256 mbps. The video setting won't affect the quality. If you are still get the problem then turn on diagnostics on the Tools>Options>Stream page, clear your log file and re-do the edits. Then email the log file to us at support @ videoredo.com
