Slower Encode of Mpeg2 Files.

Can anybody tell me if this sounds about right. 15 minutes to transcode a 25 min file and roughly 30 minutes to transcode a 50 minute file (to H.264 MP4).

This is using the default options. Are there some other options that might help to speed up the process ?

It's better then "real time". When I started with this it took my Athlon 4 hours to encode a normal movie.
Now with my 6 core my settings do an "hour"(42 m) in 12 minutes.

All depends on the core speed and how many cores.
I find that H.264 will use around 5+/- cores and X.264 around 11+/- core.

So a 16 core threadripper is wasted if you only do H.264 and is wonderful with X.264.
Of course you could run 3 H.264 encodes at once.

If you use the QuickSync encoder it's faster. But you can only do that if you have the proper Intel processor. The next release of VRD will include NVEncode as well, for NVidia cards.
