Quickstream Fix broken in 556

I ran one of the vob files from a homemade dvd through quickstream fix in 556. I changed the options so that it allowed me to output to VOB. Unfortunately it does not process the file even tho the progress bar suggests it is. No output file is created and the "Output Complete" window displays the following"

Video resync frames removed: 1396
Audio resync frames removed: 1700
Video output frames: 0
Audio output frames: 0
Processing time (secs): 36
Processed frames/sec: 0.00
Actual Video Bitrate: -1.#J Mbps

If I save the fixed file as .mpg it works fine.

Video output frames: 10134
Audio output frames: 13208
Processing time (secs): 12
Processed frames/sec: 836.76
Actual Video Bitrate: 6.75 Mbps

BTW Quickstream Fix works fine outputting to VOB in VRD Plus 2.5.6.512

Could you elaborate on how you are outputting a VOB in QSF with V556?

That option does not exist.

I open VRD TV Suite, change hidden options to allow output to VOB. Load the VOB file the click Tools -> Quickstream Fix. Click on the box beside the Output Stream file, the Save As dialog box opens. I change the "Save as type" to *.VOB and click Save. The box closes, I then click "Start Quick Fix"

EDIT: Save as VOB in Quickstream Fix is available by default in VRD Plus and works fine.

The VOB option is unnecessary in TVSuite. The only thing the VOB option did in Plus was output an MPEG Program Stream with blank NAV packets. If you want to do the same thing in TVSuite then simply save the file as a .mpg, but click the Options button and check the box that says "Output blank NAV packets".

None of the other stuff in the VOB, like multiple audio streams, subtitles, etc... were retained through QSF in any version.

I'm curious as to what exactly you're trying to do with this DVD. Have you tried the new "Open title from DVD" option in TVSuite? It allows you to open a specific title from a DVD for editing in VideoReDo even if it spans multiple VOBs. You can even launch the QSF feature after the title is loaded and run QSF on just that title.

There was some stuttering in the credits so i ran the last VOB file through QuickStream fix to see if it detected anything (something I have numerous times in the past with VRD Plus). Unfortunately saving the file to *.VOB no longer worked.

i just don't understand why if the option is there to save to VOB (and yes it is on by default in VRD Plus but has to be manually turned on in the hidden options in VRD TV Suite) that it no longer works (but works fine in VRD Plus)?

I'm not sure why the hidden option doesn't work, that's DanR's area. However there is a reason those options are hidden. Most of them are experimental and meant for testing and not every day use. Like I said in my previous post saving as a .mpg with the "Output blank NAV packets" option checked produces the same result as saving as a .vob in Plus.

Just remember that you can't save to .vob and insert it back into the original file structure. You will have to re-author anyway and the .mpg with blank nav packets works just like the old .vob in DVDStyler. (DVDAuthor frontend)

Sorry, if I have just restated the obvious :) .

That was my point... The VOB output, in both Plus and TVSuite, does not output a VOB which can simply replace the original VOB on the DVD. It outputs an MPEG program stream with blank NAV packets and a .vob extension. In fact that is why the VOB output option was removed and replaced by the Output blank NAV packets checkbox in the Options dialog. Because calling the output files VOBs was causing confusion.
