Nice program, I can use VRD again, now!

Hi there,

Yes :D ! MC-TVConverter works nicely. Now I can demux my WTV HD EAC3 (french hdtv) wtv files. And with the latest version of eacto3, I can finally convert eac3 to ac3. Then I remux video file with ac3 file and give the result to VRD and everything work fine! I should also say that I was waiting for more than one year to work on those wtv files... Meanwhile I do not record any more TV broadcasts using WTV. It is so easier to use TS files (still, that was a problem with VRD, but eac3to saved me last week also)...

Direct EAC3 support will be available in the next update.
Will it also include support for DVB (teletext) subtitles?

I tried MC-TVConverter, but it doesn't keep these for some reason (even when I click include all streams).

Don't remember, if you have a short eac3 .wtv sample that can be uploaded we would be glad to check it out.

We have eac3 .ts files, but not WTV. Can you upload one or two short .wtv/eac3 to our ftp? Please send email to support with upload info.

Thanks.

Cool.

Direct EAC3 support will be available in the next update.
Hi Dan, this is great news. I know that this question is coming again and again, but do you have an idea when the next update will be available? VRD is great, but I am really missing french HD TV conversion (I do not record any more HD, waiting for the support of eac3 in VRD. But why in the hell, France decide to be alone in the world to use that format???).

Thanks again,

I do have some of them. But they are quite big (I cannot tell how much big, I am not at home for the moment). I can send one if you need to.

Its ready to go into beta now. We have a meeting here later to today to go over some last minute items that we want to fix up before we post the beta, but if they can't be done in a day or two we will save it for the next beta.

Regarding the large files, please record a 1-2 minute segment and then stop the recording. That will be best and create a reasonably sized file for us. Recordings from two different channels would be most helpful.

Why did the French choose EAC3?
I used to work for a French company many many years ago. Enjoyed my time and colleagues a lot, especially the trips to Paris, skiing in the Alps, and meetings on islands in the Mediterranean. However, if there was ever a technical decision to be made, they always seemed to pick the more complex and less standard approach with the hope that their chosen standards would eventually adopted by others.....

Ok, I will try to do that tonight. How do I send you the files at the end?

Ps: I am french also, I use to search for the simplier way of working! :D

Thanks. The files (3 files, one for each "big" french channel : tf1,france2,m6) are uploading now. Dan, I will send a mail to support when the files are all there.

Regards,

Now would be a good time to release whatever fixes you have.

The new season for all OTA TV shows has started, and the issue that I and others were having with 1280X720, 59.97 fps mpg files is supposed supposedly fixed in this next release.

So release it already and fix the rest in the next one. :)

It's 59.94 :D

Out of curiosity, just what do you think is fixed that needs to be released?

It was a bug in some 720P files.
Ah, OK. It is not a bug that I've run across and never will.

As a side note, since the OP of that thread is trying to create DivX files for a Philips DVD player, instead I suggest that the player be changed out with this Blu-ray player:

Samsung BD-C5500

Someone (don't remember who) posted about that player after getting it. Over the Labor Day weekend, my daughter's family decided to return to WallyWorld a Blu-ray/amp combo that they didn't care for. I suggested the player and the WallyWorld had it in stock.

Why am I suggesting that player? Because not only will it play DivX it will play MKV wrapped videos. As a test, we played a Doctor Who MKV 720p 25 fps video. Yes, it played. They like this player.

It is quite possible that it might not play videos wrapped with the latest mkvmerge if the no compression option isn't set. The mkvtoolsnix author is playing hardball with a Matroska spec.

In any event, instead of taking the 720p OTA TS files and redoing them as DivX files, they can be edited as TS files and then fed to the mkvmerge program to create MKV files that will then play on this player.

And the player is less than $200.
