Movie transferred to Tivo has no audio.

I think this is a known problem, but my search efforts were fruitless so I apologize in advance...

I have a movie file (Video-TS folder) that has multiple audio streams. x80 is AC-3 2 channel and x81 is AC-3 6 channel.
Using VRD TVS/H.264 v4.20.7.638, I can output a file with 5.1 audio, but it is mapped to x81 which doesn't work on the Tivo.

I found a post from Dan203 over at the Tivo forums that says this:
Actually the problem here is where the stream is mapped. In VideoReDo we leave the stream mapping alone during output, so if the 5.1 stream is at 0x81 then it is left at 0x81. But TiVo needs it to be 0x80. In the newest version of TVSuite v4 we actually remap the audio streams so that they start at 0x80. However we also output multiple audio streams, so if you're going to use it to save files for TiVo then you need to go into the Profile Options section and uncheck the "Allow multiple audio streams" option. That will force it to output just one audio stream and it will be mapped to 0x80 so it should work with TiVo.
Well that doesn't work. The "Allow multiple audio streams" option is already unchecked. In fact, it is greyed out so I couldn't "check" it if I wanted to.
The audio still gets mapped to x81.

File: Name : E:\Movies\<Name of movie here>.mpg
Size : 3.629 GB
Duration : 01:41:53.29
Mux type : PS - MPEG2
Video: Encoding : MPEG2
VideoStreamID : xE0
Frame rate : 29.97 fps
Encoding size : 720 x 480
Aspect ratio : 16:9
Header bit rate : 9.800 Mbps
VBV buffer : 224 KBytes
Profile : Main@Main
Progressive : Prog or Int
Chroma : 4:2:0
Bit rate : 4.190 Mbps
Audio Stream: 1 (Primary) Codec : AC3
Format : DVD VOB
Channels : 5.1
Sub stream id : x81
Bit rate : 384 Kbps
Sampling rate : 48000
Sample size : 16 bits
Is there any other way to brute force the 5.1 audio to the x80 position?

If it's grayed out then that means you have the multi-audio option disabled globally which in turn means the remapping feature does not work. You have to enable multi-audio globally and then uncheck that option in the profile for it to work the way you want.

Excellent! I knew it had to be something simple. Took me a couple of passes to find the global option, but it worked as expected.

Thanks!

I have a similar problem with audio in VideoReDo TVSuite version 5.1.1.719. I'm converting mkv movie files to mp4 for playback on my TiVo Roamio. Despite changing the H.264 MP4 profile to not allow multiple audio streams, I'm still unable to get audio on the TiVo. Audio on the PC works fine. Taking the same file and converting via Handbrake results in audio on the TiVo, although audio sync is a bit questionable.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but unsure where to turn next. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

TiVo only supports certain audio formats when paired with an MP4. What is the audio format of the original file?

Also if you're using pyTiVo to transfer the file you need to enable the ts option. That will allow the TiVo to pull the file to the TiVo without transcoding. (only works for Roamio or Premiere units)

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the response. I'm using TiVo desktop to share the file with my TiVo and pulling the complete file down to the TiVo.
