LargeBufferMalloc: no more memory

Hi folks;

I recently upgraded to Video Redo 5, in part, because I thought some of these errors would go away.

I keep running into this LargeBufferMalloc :no more memory error. I'm working with H.264 recordings in a .wtv wrapper. I'm guessing, but it seems to be related to Video Redo running a QSF fix on the file.

Any ideas on how to address this (now) old and annoying error?

Do the files have multiple audio streams? Are you recording from CableCARD tuner? Or some sort of HDMI capture device?

I don't know if there are multiple audio streams. I know it's supposed to be 5.1 (when available) and it's worked fine for about 10 years or so. No cable card, as for capture, it's a Hauppaugge Colossus but this too has been in service for about 10 years.It is HDMI and it's not encrypted.

It seems that it's a QSF issue. I process the recordings using VAP so it does a QSF, then Comskips the file and then cuts the commercials and writes out the cutfile. When it fails, and this is intermittent, the solution is always the same, get VAP to skip the QSF step and then processing succeeds.

LargeBuffer Malloc errors typically are caused by a corrupt file. If you're capturing from HDMI then it's unlikely there is multiple audio streams, so I doubt it's just a bad secondary audio stream.

Get away from VAP for the moment. Can you open the original WTV file directly into the VideoReDo UI? Try scrubbing around a bit, does it give you any errors? Try running QSF from the UI does that still give you the large buffer malloc error?

Oddly..I haven't seen one since. I was going to post back only when I had one show up so that we can continue but nothing....As soon as I get one I'll post back with some more info. Thanks!
