Joining together MPEG2 files with different Field Orders

I am planning on joining together 2 MPEG2 files that have different field orders. (One is Top/Upper FF and the other is Bottom/Lower FF)

In the end I want to make a DVD out of the resulting MPEG2.

Couple questions...
Just curious if anyone has ran into issues with this in the past in VideoRedo?
What exactly does the VideoRedo do with these types of files?
Would I be better off re-encoding one of the videos to the same field order?

The original files were from
  • A Hauppauge MPEG2 encoder card (TFF)
  • A DV from a camcorder in a AVI container (BFF) converted to a MPEG2 (Note that I have the original AVI, I could reencode it to MPEG2 and change the field order. I was just concerned that it could make the video jumpy.)

(I see threads on the forums that are similar regarding field order. But nothing exactly the same.)

VRD wont check the field order, so it will allow you to do this. However the DVD player will most likely assume the field order of the first video on the disc for the entire thing, so when it hits the second title you're likely to see artifacting. You're much better off recoding one of the files so that they match.

Thanks for saving me the time. Will do. (The MPEG2 encoding for the AVI was messed up, widescreen instead of 4x3, so I have to do it again anyway...)
