Intel Quicksync error with 5.4.84.771

Dear VRD Team,

after updating to 5.4.84.771 Quicksync has suddenly stopped working. Looks like the encoder can't get the processor online. No other windows updates or software changes prior to VRD crashing.

Error is consistent across reboots -- any suggestions?

There haven't been any changed to the intel QS encoder in 771 vs previous betas. Error -4 means that it couldn't allocate GPU memory.

What are the source and output dimensions of your video?
Do you want to try rebooting to make sure that the hardware isn't in some weird state?
On the Tools>Options>Quick sync, what are the values of the two settings?

Values are below

1. Implementation setting: 2
2. QuickSync hardware surface type: 768

Let me see if I can see if anything else material changed...

Digging -- digging -- Windows updated my Intel video drivers from 22.20.16.4771 to 25.20.100.6326 on the 16th of October -- two days before I noticed the problem.

I'm trying to rollback to the older video driver and see what happens...

--- time goes by ---

Rollback to 4771 successful -- and viola VideoReDo works again -- now to figure out what borked in the driver...

Try these settings:

Implementation setting: Hardware (any device)
QuickSync hardware surface type: Any

Will do -- just have some videos to grind before experimenting again! My recordings drive was getting full ;-)

Windows 10 tried to be helpful after the rollback this afternoon and upgraded the driver again -- bang VRD dead -- had to rollback again and turn off future driver updates, now okay.

I will check the other settings later this week when I have more time.

Thanks!
