Input file with DTS audio......... can the output file be DTS as well?

Hello. I just made my purchase to upgrade to V5. I am very happy so far.

One question..... I have some files that I am trying to edit. The original source file has DTS audio.

VideoRedo does successfully open these files. When I save the output file, I notice that the audio is converted to AAC.

Is it possible for me to keep the exact same audio for the output file without changing it at all?

p.s. also, one little thing.... this may be a known issue, but when V5 tries to open a file from a folder, it does not look for mkv files.

You can click on "all files" and that will find the file and it will let you open it, but it would be nice if V5 automatically searched for mkv files

what profile are you using? Check the profile options to see if reencoding or pass-through is specified.

To "see" MKV files, Click on the menu: Tools>Options>File types and add it to the list. Make sure to register file associations also.

How do I know if the profile options are set to "pass through"? I have looked everywhere I can think of but I do not see anything that says pass through.

On a related note here, I tried to save an MKV file with DTS audio in MPEG-2 Program Stream and when trying to open the resulting file, VideoReDo indicates no audio stream. Since the audio encoding is set to Automatic, is that the expected result?

DTS audio is not a supported format in MP4 files. AAC or AC3 only.

I got it to work with MPG.ts.
But MPG.mpg - Program Stream had no audio. (DTS not listed as one of Program Stream options)

EDIT... I tested DTS conversions Converting to MPG has several problems such as "Automatic" stripping out audio
and bad PCM static.

BUT the SAME conversions to H264.MP4 has NO problems. "Automatic" converted audio to AAC
and PCM was fine.

DTS support is still a work in progress. It should work for DTS from a DVD but likely will have issues for DTS or DTS-HD from a BD disc.
