How Good is the Re-encoding?

I'm a long time VRD and VRD Plus user. Great software, worth every penny I paid all those years ago. My question is about the new ability to re-encode and burn DVDs. Specifically, how good is the re-encoding? I have not been part of the beta so please excuse me if that has all been discussed.

Are there any comparisons to other encoders such as Procoder, TMPGEnc, CCE, etc? I'm mostly concerned with quality and not speed.

Thanks,

Tom

I've done a little bit of recoding and first impressions are that it's very good; just subjective at this point, but my yardstick was always TMPGEnc and VR seems to match that from the couple I've done.

You can actually set the quality, both in terms of bit rate and also in terms of the speed versus quality trade-off.
