HEVC h265 Support

Just wondering if/when we will be getting the new release of VRD Pro with support for importing HEVC/h265 files for editing and exporting to other formats.

I have a new GoPro 7 that i like to shoot in 4k-60p mode, however it only shooys in HEVC (h265) in the MP4 container, and i can't import it into VRD Pro and output to h264.

I am still using 5.90.90.770 from July 2018

Any news yet.

It's being developed simultaneously. But there are currently some bugs in the profile grid editor that need to be worked out before we can beta test.

Thanks Dan, i managed to use Handbrake to import the 60Mbps 4k/60p HEVC files and convert to h264 MP4 at 20Mbps (no editing/cutting) but the highest resolution i can output to appears to be 1080/60p, which i thought was a bit odd, but for many they are still output to 1080p anyway as a lot of people like me still don't have a 4k tv anyway, and some will play the 4k files but they are downscaled by the tv to play back at 1080, and it stll looks great.

Dan, i will give you the links for 2 of the sample videos i shot with the GoPro 7 (you can download the originals from the camera)

1080/60p HEVC =

Glen, email me @ support and I'll send you a beta version of V6 pro. There are some features I'd like you to test if you don't mind.

Hi, Dan,

I would also be interested in the Beta Pro version. I would need it for using h.265 HEVC and especially for 4:2:2 transfers.

I already wrote you an email on june 8th.

It's been a very hectic week, with lots of personal things to take care of. Did I get back with you?

Hi Danr, been in the Philippines for 2 months, just got back, i sent you an email via the contact page.

I shot all my Videos in the Philippines with my new GoPro 7 in 1080/60p rather than 4k/60p to save space on the sd card, and because it is only being uploaded to youtube, and the 1080/60p look good anyway.

Cheers

Just to update, i can import and cut the 4k/60p (59.94fps) HEVC Mp4 files from the GoPro 7 into VRD Pro, but it will not convert to any other format or resolution.

I just tried a 4k/50p HEVC MPEG-TS file given to me by mikla to try with the current VRD Pro and it will not even import it (see Mediainfo screnshot below) not supported.

Handbrake and VideoProc will not import it either.
