Glitchy video plays in VRD, but QSF or save ditches audio

I assume this from the log is a clue:

2020-05-24 09:55:32 Audio stream: 0, More than 13792 msec of missing audio, disabling output.

The video plays through with some glitches from broadcast reception problems; but I can't save or QSF without losing the audio.

I am using 6.61.1.818 - May 5 2020.

That typically happens when there is a secondary audio stream that drops out. When running QSF click on the Options button next to the profile and uncheck the option to output multiple audio streams. That will likely fix the issue.

Well, that worked... sort of. There are sections where the audio is wildly out of sync. after QSF, and then it will snap back into sync again. The original file still plays better in VRD without QSF, but I'm trying to fix up the video so it plays better in other players.

I suggest a warning, at least. VRD should maybe finish the QSF without the multiple audio streams automatically and put up a warning. They way it fixed the audio was not good, though.

This makes me wonder how many videos I have that don't have audio because this happened and I didn't check all the way through.

The only reason the audio would go out of sync like that, and then snap back into sync, is if there variable frame lengths either in the audio or the video. Does your original file use variable frame rate for the video? If not what format is the audio?

Can you open the file in MediaInfo? VRD doesn’t detect variable frame rates

Ok that is really odd, especially for an MPEG-2 file. Can you send us a decent chunk of the original file so we can try to reproduce the issue?

I trimmed the front part of the video and sent e-mail to support. I hope it shows the bad behavior when you QSF or save that I see when I process the entire file.

Thanks.

There's quite a bit of corruption in the source video which is triggering the resyncs. At what time codes to do you see the most out of sync audio in the saved file?

I did not try to process the clip I sent, but on the full file that I processed, around approx. 00:00:59.2

Hey guys, I'm sure you've noticed that rontop's problem (this thread) is similar or identical to my "Qsf" problem (another thread).

If you need another example, let me know as I have an alternative specimen extract (74MB).

When I process the trimmed clip that I sent to you and ignore the multiple audio, it produces acceptable output. Only you can say why that would be different than the whole file. Sunspots have been at a minimum lately, so probably not that.

I could send the whole file if you are interested. I hoped the log would tell you something. I might be near a faster internet connection over the weekend. My upload speeds are truly terrible.

If you switch the audio to Advanced mode in the profile dialog you can delete the stream(s) you don't want and manually set the parameters of the streams you do, including the language.
