Getting Wrong Language Sometimes

Re-ripped 80+ DVDs from DVD format on disc to .MPG using VideoReDo TVSuite 3.20.2.609 - Nov 15 2010.

When I went back to check, I found that 12 of them had the wrong language (French or Spanish instead of English)

Upon re-ripping several, I verified that "DVD Title Selector | Audio
Stream" was set to ...English, but the re-rips came up with the
wrong language too.

The DVD Format versions all played in English without any user intervention.

Can anybody shed some light?

Possible Cause(s)?

Workaround(s)?

Setting DVD Options TB Effictive In Ripped .MPG?

I'm in the process of re-ripping 300+ DVDs to .MPG format.

They were originally ripped to native DVD format (.VOB... .IFO... and so-forth), but it turnes out that format cannot be rendered smoothly by the app that I use to view movies remotely - whereas .MPG can.

Most of the DVDs, no problem....

But some are foreign language and need tb viewed with English subtitles.

Is there a way to tell VideoReDo TVSuite to capture the subtitles when ripping from native DVD to .MPG?

Ditto other options like "Director's Commentary"....

The language thing has been fixed, but wont be available until the next release.

As for your other questions... No there is no way for VRD to process the subtitles. We do not support DVD subtitles in any way.

Sorry to jump in here, but can anyone suggest a mechanism to get DVD subtitles?

Thanks in advance

If I attempt more conversions of a give movie, is there any chance I'll get the right track? Or does it act the same way each time?

If #2, rough idea when the next release is coming? Weeks? Months? Years?

Should be the same each time. Basically the problem is that it is not properly reading the selection in the dialog and is instead selecting the first audio stream it finds inside the VOB files. So if the Spanish stream happens to have a packet come first in the VOB, even if it's stream ID is higher, it will be selected by default. To compound the issue there was also a minor bug in the select stream dialog that could make it difficult to select the proper stream there as well. (it didn't always have every stream listed)

Unfortunately no. DanR controls the releases. This issue is fixed in the most recent beta of TVSuite v4, since it has a more active beta cycle. However I have no idea when the next version of TVS v3 will be released.

Thanks.

I just stumbled on to the Beta fora - as in http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/showthread.php?t=6961

Any idea what I am looking for? My guess is something similar-sounding to:
Code:
[Fix] MPEG2 stream: Saving from mpeg to TS, or WTV, audio PID not being properly set.
Knowing what verbage to look for would make it easier to determine when we're getting close.

OTOH, maybe I should just try the v4 Beta....

As soon as another beta is released it will have this fix. So just add watch to that top beta thread and when you get an email saying a new reply has been posted you'll know that there is a new beta available.

You probably know this already, but the fix does not appear tb in the v4 beta yet (4.20.0.610) either. I re-ripped a half-dozen problem DVDs and the problem persisted in all six.
