Which tablet are you using?

Want to test some hi-dpi displays here as well. Been thinking about a Surface 3, but perhaps something less powerful and smaller would be OK as well.
I am using Lenovo Miix 2 10" which is similar to more widely known Dell Venue Pro 11". Both use Baytrail-T quad core atom platform, now more than 9 months old models. Those are indeed quite different beasts compared to meaty i3/i5/i7 mobile platforms like Surface or ultrabooks.

I should correct my previous statement - with exception of initial VRD window and some other minor glitches, VRD5 seems to work quite well on hiDPI display. Will post some screenshots later.

Another early observation - one specific scene MKV file makes VRD5 to crash reliably instantly after opening. I am not sure what is going on there, crash occurs with both 4 and 5 engine options. Other 2 MKV files i've tested so far worked normally in VRD5. Advanced diagnostic LOG attached.

Info window in main window does not show MB values in correct way. Thousand separator is shown as black diamond with question mark inside of it. This might be something related to Scandinavian alphabets.
Thanks, will get this fixed. I assume it should be a space?

Also, can you enable View>Show Frame Number>Time code and View>Show Frame Number>Thumbnails and check those as well.

Thanks.

Just my 2 cents: works as expected - really great. I like the new UI (dark), but: still no subtitle pass-through to .mkv files? Really? That makes me sad. I desperately hoped it might happen in V5. Will that feature (DVD Sub) eventually come? Nevertheless: it's a great Product, i'm excited and will buy it when available. Many thanks to the team.

Wow, batch-mode invoked from comspec command-line are now entirely silent. No trayicon and balloon tooltip poping up. Videoredo v.5 can now be invoked from the service account (service application) without stalling due to the visible UI v.4 had. Great work guys ;) One of my major issues with VRD is dismissed. Only unicode left and once that is completed I will buy v.5 for sure.

Supporting DVD Subs, even just for passthrough, is a lot of work. Each format we add, audio, video or subtitle requires special parsing and processing through the whole chain. For the new feature where we support any audio/video format we're basically just passing off the decoding to ffmpeg and then treating the decoded frames as raw YUV (video) or PCM (audio) which we already supported. There is no such thing with subtitles, so we have to support each format individually.

Ok - understood. Thank you for clarification, Dan. So i've to stay with the tools i'm currently using for cutting MKV with DVD Subs (only at begin/end of movie), which are mkvtoolnix and/or Xmedia Recode. For normal (non-subtitle) movies there is no alternative for your great product.

There has to be at least one *.UI.xml file in the directory listed below it.

Hi Dan

Thanks found it now.
Problem was that by install the Custom directory is C:\Users\home\Documents\VideoReDo\UIStyles
Now I have changed it to C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoReDoTVSuite5 the options (including Dark.UI.xml) are now available.

Thanks again.
Best
Don

You don't need to do that. As you can see the Dark and High Contrast themes are already options there. You only need Custom if you plan to make changes and you do NOT want to make changes directly to the files in the install directory. You want to copy them somewhere else and make the changes to the copy.

VRD 5 beta look very promising.

I tested how smart recoding works. On my WDTV Player file saved in verion 5 run smoothly on cut points. Previous verion caused minimal freezing. Very good work.

Frame window for current timecode trimms one character from the right. For instance 01:23:00.12 looks like 01:23:00:1. I use default theme with Arial 24 and my Windows font scaling is set to default. I created custom theme and modified that setting to Arial 22. It works fine.

Batch manager doesn't retain chronological order for added files. VRD4 uses xml list for creating batch list. VRD5 listing bprj files presents in user profile app data folder. It is simpler but added files are sorted alphabetically only.

New COM interface also looks promising. I browsed COM object using Excel. I don't understand everything yet, so I wait for documentation.

In the options window I found setting for how long to keep log file. How set it to unilimed. Maybe 0?

How long can I use beta as registered v4 user? 15 days only?

And one more question. When could be possible to buy new version? I would like to buy it even today. :)

Yes, OK I found it. I had to study that page for a while. Works Great! This feature is worth the update alone.
BTW. I like the look of the GUI.
