Feature request - cut out first 10 minutes of program

I'm looking for a way to automatically take a file and remove the first 10 minutes of it before saving, this is to get around comskip learning the logo from the previous program.
Any chance VAP can be modified to do this?

No. I'm not a Comskip expert but this seems like something it should be able to do easily. If not, perhaps you could suggest it to the developers.

I've asked but haven't found a solution yet. Unfortunately comskip finds the logo from the previous program and as it's similar to the wanted program it uses it making the logo unreliable.
Is there any way of scripting VRD to take a video file and using a batch file chop the first 10 minutes out?

Batch file could probably do it but don't you risk cutting desired program material also?

EDIT: I see you are working with VRDsplit.vbs to do this. I wasn't aware of that script until now. Anyway I'll consider this thread dead unless I hear different from you.

Yes I discovered the script after I posted, so I'll try that, thanks for your help.
Comskip is also getting a parameter added in the near future that will delay the start of logo finding which should make the cutting facility no longer necessary.

Sounds like a much better solution! :)

Just out of curiosity, why are recording 10 minutes of the wrong program before the desired one?
If you are just starting early, why not set to 1 minute or zero minutes early?

Does the new logo start exactly with the desired program, or is there some logo-delay between shows?
Depending on conditions, I still see a possible problem ;)

Basically certain shows have a short gap between the shows and it often runs late, so even with no overlap it occasionally finds the logo from the program before and as it's very similar to the wanted programs logo it causes the logo detection to be unreliable.
So my solution is cut out the first 10 minutes, run comskip on the results, keep the logo file from that run, then delete the comskip results and run it again on the uncut file with the logo from the first run.
Granted its a messy way to fix the problem but it should work.

Yep, rather messy but with Dan's help I've edited the script to work with VRD4 and it's now working albeit by splitting the source file into 3 TS files and logo finding in the middle one rather than starting 10 minutes in ;-)
