thanx 4 the info. how is DMF3? i only used DVD Workshop 2 and it sucked. i mean the program and all is fantastic and easy to use with motion menus n such. but what is all the good stuff if the end result, the written dvd, is out of sync though the movies were in sync at the beginning?

does DMF3 have out-of-sync issues as well?

Since I've been using VRD, I have not had sync problems with DMF2 Don't know too much about DMF3. There is a comparison chart on the Ulead site regarding features.

There is also an additional fix for Ulead products. Add the CloseAudioDTR=1 line to the INI file. See this post. http://www.drdsystems.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=127

Any DMF3 users (or previous users who switched away from Ulead) have any comments?

yeah, tried the fix, but still got sync issues as the program demuxes and remuxes my files.

i'm sure there was an option in DVD Workshop 1 that it shouldn't demux/remux my vob files, but i can't find it in version 2.

Hi Harry,

So that CloseAudioDTR=1 doesn't work for you? And they don't have the option for selecting "Do Not convert compliant files" anymore in DVD Workshop 2? That's not good. Was the Ulead forum of any use?

I'm wondering if there's an interaction problem with MF2&3 and VideoReDo for PAL programs. I know from PHD, myself, and others that MF2&3 works great on VideoReDo files here in NTSC land. However, I've had a few compliants in the last 2 months about MF sync from PAL folks. There weren't many compliants, so I haven't pursued it, but it might be indicative of something.

Feedback from PAL users?

imho the future lies in dvd-lab. new beta 7 is out and oscar says that this is about to become the final :D

as for ulead i don't care anymore. i don't trust their demux/remux algorithms as they've never worked for me.

Dan,

I always assumed it was the same Ulead product around the world, because you have the option of auto setup in installing Ulead products by selecting your country or selecting NTSC, PAL or both.

Perhaps it has something to do with an item as innocuous as region setup? Maybe selecting NTSC or both "fixes" it and selecting "PAL only" causes the issue in DMF?

Perhaps PAL users who have a sync issue could try an uninstall and reinstall and select the "both" option.

PHD, I assume that while the product is the same worldwide, perhaps the internal logic differs on whether you specify PAL or NTSC. I can send you some PAL material for testing, if you're interested.

You had previously sent me some PAL material to troubleshoot for someone else and I believe I had made it into a DVD without any audio sync problems. That's why I thought maybe if the "both" option were enabled, it might make a difference. But if you've got some other source material for me to try, I'll give it a shot.

Sync problems

I have had all sorts of problems with sync and PVAStrumento (free) has gone a long way to solving them

Just create a PS from your original MPEG with PVAStrumento (available from http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm)

1. Record the DigiTV programme as normal.
2. Use PVAStrumento to create a PS with a packet size of 2048 – just load the file into the pink box and click Make PS.
3. The new file goes wherever you asked PVAStrumento to put it and the whole process only takes a few minutes.

These PS files often play well in Windows Media Player and have always worked in DVD Movie Factory 3 creating DVDs in PAL format here in the UK.

Ken, Do you have a file from VideoReDo that doesn't sync in MF3? If so, I'd like to get my hands on it, or at least a clip so we can do some testing.
