Crashing when editing MP2 file V6.61.819a

Trying to cut this file from 4 seconds to 3 seconds but when I move to 3.00sec position I get Problem Seeking Error. If I play the sequence to the end it comes up with video thread error- End of stream and then crashes VRD. I've also attached the info of the mpg sequence which is black video with sound. I have edited a further 5 sequences all very similar sizes which didn't display these errors using 819a. So I have un-installed both v5 and V6 then re-installed just V6.61.819a again and also re-did the video sequence again before retrying cutting it to 3 seconds but it still fails. Weird!

4 seconds is really short. Probably too short for our seeking on the main time bar. Try using the thumbnails to move around instead. At 25fps there are only 100 frames total.

Thanks Dan, but I have saved many 1000s of files of 3, 4 and 5 seconds previously but only this release has ever caused this issue. I've gone back to 818a and works fine. I'll try using moving thumbnails but I just installed 819a and proceeded as usual with editing, planning to test the new features later.

I am having loads of problems too with new version 819a , loads of frames not showing
how can I go back to 818a ?

Mine is set to single, I'm now editing M2TS files and still get the same issue which is not present in 818a.
Dan203 will send files the normal way later, I'm trying to see what is the shortest file that causes this problem.

Have tried it on various file lengths and it still fails with the same error which is always 1 sec longer than the file. See attached images.

Meant to say that the files are still editable and can be selected and used okay. I add them to the joiner and save joiner all okay. But this was not the case with the MP2 file I edited yesterday which caused VRD to crash.

There is an option in the hidden options section (hold Shift, then click Tools-Options) that will allow you to adjust th3 amount of time before that error is displayed. I wonder if increasing it will fix the issue? Can you try?

Hi Dan, first tried it at 6000 then 10000 but still comes up with Seeking Error and still trying to seek 1 sec over the file length.

Which file, it does it on every file that I load into VRD 819a and play it to the end, then it throws up this error. You don't need to start at the beginning, just start a few minutes before the end then let it play to the end and it produces this error.

Edit: I don't think this is a VRD problem as I have disabled Acronis True Image 2020 Active Protection. VRD now doesn't show this error.

Interesting. So maybe Acronis is doing something to the file that's preventing VRD from seeking. We've seen this with antivirus in the past. Usually you can go into an AV program and add an exception/exclusion for a specific program or folder and it will ignore all activity from that program. You should try that for VRD and see if it helps.

The active protection examines every file in use and if it does not have a digital signature it goes through multiple checks which slows the program down considerably, so you have to configure it to bypass these programs. I know that VRD has a digital signature but when doing a save it can take up to a 30 seconds before the save dialogue appears so it must be calling on something that Acronis doesn't like. Anyway I've uninstalled Acronis TI 2020 altogether as it's a pain for a backup program. It was probably doing this with previous versions but as I don't usually play files to the end, didn't notice. It's not very often that I edit MPG2 files but Acronis caused VRD to crash on that edit, that's when I discovered the issue with seeking on all files. A warning to those others that have deep anti ransomware and cryptocurrency mining malware protection running as it vastly affects video editing software. Thanks for all your help Dan.
