Can I open and process a .TiVo recording in VRD6 using WIN-10?

If I haven't partially installed Tivo Desktop on it?

Been using VRD for so long, I forget.

Maybe once or twice a year I need to download a recording from one of my TiVo's running TE3 as a .TiVo file and process it with VRD6.
I don't care about opening the tivo file with anything else like WMP-Windows Media Player, just VRD6.

Last time I did that was on my WIN-7 install which had the partial TiVo Dektop install left with the DirectShow filter left installed.

I'm now on WIN-10 and just realized I haven't installed TiVo Desktop on it.

I installed the latest pyTiVoDesktop on my WIN-10 leaving the option checked to install the TiVo DirectShow filter and entered my MAK on setup.

Will schedule a test recording from one of my TiVo's this weekend to check it out.

I assume you figured this out?

FYI for anyone else who happens to find this thread the answer is yes. But you need to either install TiVo Desktop or pyTivo Desktop so that you have the DirectShow filter that can decrypt the .tivo file.

Yep. Used pyTiVo Desktop to get the filter installed and enter the MAK.

No problem. If you have any issues with pyTivo Desktop let me know. I'm also the developer of that. :)
