New issue I ran batch mode and add my files to scan for ads. They ran without a issue but every video i used so far videoredo 6 saids it had to remove some frames. I usually see that every so often but not on over 20 videos i know do not have issues. I ran a same video in v5 than i used on v6. v5 said no frames removed. I know you redid v6 ad scan but why is v6 saying there is issues and frames was removed. I used both default ad scan for both v5 and v6. I didn't change nothing in v6 ad scan. I'm stumped why v5 is saying no issues on my videos but v6 is. Im using v6 latest beta.

Can you upload the source file to us so we can compare V5 to V6 here? Please don't forget to send the email.

We are usually good for at least 10GB uploads and often a lot more. We got your email with the Goggle link and will check it out tomorrow.

In both V5 and V6, there are 2 modes for running Ad-Detective, interactive and non-interactive. Both batch and GUI support both modes. In interactive mode, which was the default in V5 the video is played at high speed, scanned for ads, and you can watch as the AdScan happens. In interactive mode, there's no concept of frame removal for sync since (a) audio is skipped and (b) we simply ignore missing frames.

In non-interactive mode, the ad-detective is like a file save. Every frame, both audio and video are read, and decoded. If corruption is detected, it's noted and the total frames removed are presented in the summary that's in the log file (or in the case of batch in the batch summary as well). You'll get the same resync frame counts if you simply save the file, even without recoding.

In V6, the default for Ad-scan was non-interactive and in V5 I believe it was interactive. You can easily modify this in V6 by setting the interactive mode on the "Common tab". Then you can make it part of the default ad-detective profile or a named one. I personally keep about 3-4 ad-detective profiles in my list for different shows.

Finally, I tested your sample in both V5 and V6 in non-interactive mode and both versions removed exactly 34 frames.

Thanks for the replay. I never saw v5 removing any frames when i run batch mode ad scan. In the report after ad scan in batch mode is done there was no yellow ! In the batch window just a green check mark so I didn't think v5 did any resync fixes. Ill do the test on v6 to match v5 when I get home.

Did you understand the distinction between interactive vs non-interactive and why it doesn't matter if run from the GUI vs batch? We are documenting this now, and want to it be as clear as possible.

Wow, I must go and re-check to set everything to Interactive mode (so no file Save-As) since I have prior QSFs.
Thanks.

It doesn't seem to let me change "Default Settings" to tick interactive ... it always asks me to save to a profile name. Is that supposed to happen ?

In AdScan profiles are optional. You can just make changes and hit OK like in v5 and it'll work exactly as expected. The profiles are just a way of having multiple different options you can load up quickly, or pick at run time if you check the box that says "prompt on each scan"

But, if you click on default it will reload the hard coded defaults.

Will have to look again at vp.vbs and adscan.vbs.
