We are cleaning up the HEVC smart editing, otherwise, things are pretty much ready for alpha testing. Expect a posting about an alpha version in a week or two.

We're still working on it. It has some pretty massive under the hood change, so it's taken longer than expected.

Will V6 be available soon? I'm about to purchase V5 and if V6 is coming soon then I'll wait.

BTW, what are some of the changes in V6? Will there be Blu-Ray burning?

I would be very surprised if you were to purchase V5 and NOT be grandfathered in for a free 6 upgrade at this point in time.

Pretty sure they have mentioned this somewhere here. You would have to do a "search".

I too am anxious for v6 and hevc editing - any new estimates on when it will be available (seems a few weeks has stretched to a few months)?

Still working on it. Some feature creep so we're adding things now that we didn’t originally plan, but should make it a more compelling upgrade. We're also doing a lot of under the hood stuff that consumers may never see, but enhances our professional products that share a common code base.

how did the jump go from 4 to 5.

I bought v4 brand new close enough to the release of v5 so that it was a free upgrade. What is the normal "upgrade fee" from version to version?

Check our website for our current upgrade pricing. Version 5 to 6 will be in the same range.

To echo what Dan203 mentioned above, so much of Version 6 has been geared around HEVC support and doing a lot of internal changes not only to support HEVC, but to clean up old code and make maintenance / support easier. However, we realized that HEVC may not mean much to many users, especially those in North America where HEVC isn't being broadcast yet. We've added a few new features which have been on our and user requested wish list for a long, long time. I think you'll be pleased. More info coming soon.

Nice. My financial situation will change in the near term (and, unless I win the lottery, not with more moocha) so I am hoping for a release sooner rather than later :)

Hopefully nVidia HEVC encoding was added. I would be super happy as I've been encoding a lot of my recordings to HEVC to save space at higher quality. It works REALLY well. Having support built in means I could nuke my encoding batch files with ffmpeg.

Looking forward to it. My job situation is changing in a couple weeks but I'm hoping I can set aside a little for an upgrade as I use VRD every single day. The new functionality will be a huge benefit.

Discussion dead, VideoReD V6 dead, all dead. Damage. The VideoReDo V5 is perfect for H264, but unsuitable for today's demands when it can't HEVC H265.

It's not dead. We're still working on it. The whole project has taken longer then expected but it's still in the works and will be released when it's ready.
